The Fishing is Starting to Heat Up

After a slow start, dry fly fishing is beginning to improve. Water temps on the Bitterroot have been cold but are gradually warming. This has the stone flies hatching and the fish looking up. The best action is in the afternoon when water temps are the highest. Skwala’s and Nemoura’s are the predominant hatches right now.  I’ve seen a few of the spring may flies  starting to emerge but not in high enough numbers to get the fish keying on them.  The river is in great shape and the fishing will only get better in the coming days…
