Dog Days of Summer…

After a couple weeks of warm dry weather the Bitterroot has dropped significantly….. While there are still some hatches about, we are settling into late summer conditions.. Low clear water is having us change tactics.. Morning fishing is the best option , getting on the water  and off early before the heat of the day… Still seeing good hatches of PMD’s, rusty spinners, and golden stones… Lots of small fish are coming up to the dry fly but you need to go under with the dropper to hook the bigger trout… See ya on the river!

Independence Day Report!

The Bitterroot river is in great shape and providing some of the best dry fly action of the season. After high water in June, river flows are at average levels which makes for good float and wade conditions. Abundant hatches are helping as well… Golden stones, green and gray drakes, pmd, and caddis are emerging in good numbers….. See ya on the river……
