Summer fishing heating up….
The Bitterroot looks like it has turned the corner and water levels are beginning to drop. Rain in the mountains and warm weather in the 80’s melting high elevation snow has kept the river running bank full. While fishing has been decent it should really improve as there will be more soft water for fish to hold in. It should also get a bit easier for us fly fishers to get a fly to em. The big Salmon Fly hatch is just about over although you can still find a few on the upper most West Fork. Trout will still key on them for a few more days. We are entering a period of abundant hatches on the Bitterroot. Golden stones, Green & Gray Drakes, PMD’s, and Caddis are all emerging throughout the day. This will have the trout really looking up. The main Bitterroot will be a good fishing option also as river levels drop. see ya on the river…………… ~ ><(((*>
